Camp Jabberwocky Days

We were only there for a week this time, but it was a fun and rewarding time. As has been noted, Daddy has been out of town quite a bit this spring so being at camp at all was pushing it. Both of the girls came with me this time. At first I thought this plan was necessary because we didn't want Theo to feel left out, but as the departure date neared both girls expressed a desire to stay home. We stayed the course though, partly out of a desire to give Mommy a well-deserved break, and once we were underway Elsie and Theo took to life on the road with zest and zeal. Below we see the girls waiting for the ferry at Wood's Hole. Hearty travelers!


Upon arrival at the camp Elsie got right to work weeding out the flower pots:


On father's day we took a side trip to the famous Flying Horses carousel in Oak Bluffs. Here we see Theo reaching for the elusive brass ring:


The campers arrived the next day and although Elsie knew what was up, poor Theo was a little taken aback. She'd just been getting used to the place and suddenly all these new faces!


But she learned to share her toys too:

We sometimes shared our cabin with Sully's new baby, Bella, whom the girls took good care of.



Elsie remembered Paul and his "head typing machine".


She even helped feed him dinner one night:


The girls really were pretty helpful at times. Here they take on the laundry:

But it wasn't all hard work! We got to go to the beach:




                                         
and Elke brought her dolls again...


and there were horses!


Theo wasn't so sure about the horses at first...


...but it's been a summer of overcoming fears!





At night we'd visit the cabins to make sure everything was going okay. Elsie and Theo liked visiting Mary Beth's cabin because they had the most dolls. Dolls! You can't escape 'em!



And the place the girls loved the most...the costume cabin!

We had fun at old Camp Jabberwocky, but it sure is good to be home.
