skiing '12

Here's some more ski pictures. We've really been enjoying this smaller ski area on the backside of Mt. Hood called Cooper spur. It only has one lift and a rope tow, sort of like the places Grandpa Peter took us when we were Elsie and Theo's age.

This dude in the yellow bandana is "Big John", Elsie and Theo's favorite ski instructor.

Elsie was afraid to ride the chairlift for a while but then she took a ski school lesson and Big Jhon convinced her she could do it. Here she is riding with Maggie as we prepare for a family ski from the top.

The following 1 second video was taken at at the top, right as we were preparing for a lovely family ski down the hill. I got out my camera to take a video and at that moment Elsie started sliding backwards and fell. Then Maggie tried to help her and got contorted and fell too. That's when I stopped the video but what happened next was Maggie took off her ski for some reason and it rocketed down the hill unobstructed. So I chucked Theo at Maggie and chased the ski which narrowly missed hitting a child and her mother and landed in a clump of trees. I had to walk all the way back up, but that was good exercise.

And here's Elsie showing her stuff!

Winter Fun in Oregon

We've been heading up to beautiful Mt. Hood on the weekends. Unlike much of the country Oregon has had a pretty snowy winter and the snows of Hood never disappoint. One weekend we rented a cute little cabin with the Rock/Vinings and wild good times ensued.

We went skiing too, but here we see the cousins doing some sledding, sleighing, and snowcave building:

Ida dove right in the tunnel...

This scene reminded me a little of Theo's birth:

Theo takes a turn pulling the sleigh:

Here's Daddy pulling the sleigh train up the hill, documented by Pete:

Next up, skiing!
