Camping Trip!!!

We borrowed a canoe one weekend and headed out the to the wilds with two other families who live on our street. The original plan was to go to Badger Lake (that link is worth reading, btw) but the morning of our departure we were informed that forest fires had closed the area down. Bummer! But we pivoted like champs and went up to that old stand-by Trillium Lake, where we had camped a little over a year ago. But we didn't have canoes back then! Maggie went into Outward Bound instructor mode as soon as we hit the water.

Elsie tried out her new pink fishing rod, "the Lady spinner".

Elsie also learned how to paddle:

Look at her go!

The campground was great in that there were not many other campers nearby. Those that were likely wished they'd picked another place for a quiet weekend retreat. The kids of Martins Street would not be tamed! Finally we convinced them all to go inside a tent, which helped a little, though it was still noisy. Theo was thrown into a bad mood by it all, as documented here:

But Theo cheered up once the hot dogs came out and we roasted them over the fire like pilgrims of old...

Ah yes, it was a fine fall weekend in cloudy Oregon after all!

The whole family arrived in Brooklyn today. Arthur went right to work but his driver got stopped by the Wall Street protesters. Maggie and Theo got some needed mattress time while Elsie and I did glitter art.
Brilliant art I might add. A Wonderful day !

Whoa! I just watched that movie and it made me miss Theo just a little less. The horror. Maybe you could have let her live in the woods til she's 6?
