Crabbin'!

One of our Martins Street neighbors, Walker, declared that he wanted to have a crab fishin' birthday party so we all headed down to lovely Newport, Oregon and spent the weekend throwing crab traps off a dock and eating the crabs which crawled inside them.

Maggie and the girls take a short walk on a long pier in search of crab.

setting the traps!

A red rock crab:

The mighty dungeness crab - good eatin'!

There was also an aquarium in Newport

And a cold beach!

And here's a movie we made about one of Walker's birthday presents:

Well I have two comments

1. Who whispered in Walker's ear that he wanted a crab birthday party ? Was it a 42 year old who loved lookin(g) for crabs as a kid ? BTW words with ing on the end should be spelled with the g at the end.

2. Was that video made by an animal rights person ?

and also the current incarnation of Wm Bradford used to go crabbing at the marsh inlet in Nonquitt as a wee boy. I have photos but am too inept to post them here, if in fact it's possible. it was warmer, and the crabs smaller. did you hava crab bake? xoxxo Aunti M

I love that tutus are appropriate crabbing attire these days. I know that is a modern twist that Arthur and Wm Bradford had not adopted in their day-

Thank you for your enqueries into this tasteful subject. The blue claw crabs were smaller and faster, requiring great skill and the absence of Pilgrim adylts. Gentlemen of undetermined origin with rancid bait sacks were desireable companions.

Women and tutus would have angered God, but they would not have been alone.

As evr,
