Some things

We all went to a fine "brunch" at great-aunt-in-law Lindy's house in Brooklyn on Saturday. I say "brunch" because it began at 8:15 am. But it really was a brunch, with great food and another memorable meeting between cousins Elsie and Danny Jr. They even seemed to acknowledge each other this time, or at least D. Hawk did. He was grabbing away at Elsie's hip legwarmers. Here he is with Elsie who is trying out his "bumbo" seat for the first time. She liked it.

After brunch D. Hawk showed Elsie how things are done in the bouncing seat. He was flying about in that thing like a jackrabbit. No camera has been able to shutter fast enough to catch him still. Elsie was amazed.

That same weekend we went to a 1st birthday party for Yasmin Ogden, one of Elsie's new friends. This party was crazy. It was supposed to take place at the park but it rained so they told half of the guests it was canceled and then invited the other half up to their apartment which was got completely trashed by all the rambunctious kids. It was packed with toys, cakes, folded up strollers, and home cooked Indian food. Elsie remained calm which was a feat considering it all the curry sauce which was getting rubbed on her chubby cheeks. Here's a picture of me, Fred Ogden, and Lee Eastman with our daughters Elsie, Yasmin, and Nancy. This pic was taken was towards the end of the party and poor Nancy had had enough. This is a funny picture too because at another party, in an earlier era, the three of us rookie dads could have been sitting around discussing magic mushrooms or some such thing, but now Fred's an honest to goodness brain surgeon, Lee's a big time lawyer, and I write a baby blog read by dozens of people on the internet.

Lastly, Elsie has become quite upset about all the "tri-hawk" comments and she's very jealous too of her cousin Ida's robust coiffe. So Maggie added some Rogaine to her breast milk and look what happened! Oh yeah, who's got the hairiest baby now PDX?

That is one glamorous Elsie with the new hair! Ida gives up the "Hairy Baby" crown. For now. We'll see where they match up in 3 months.
