Elsie Goes East...

Elsie and Dad took a quick trip back east to attend a wedding and see family. It was supposed to be a quick trip anyway. We got stuck in the Minneapolis airport for five hours! Luckily we met a nice Senator in one of the bathrooms there and this helped pass the time. Anyway, here's Elsie waiting to finally get on the plane:

Boy was Elsie glad to see Grandpa Peter!

And cousin Thomas!

And Aunt Laura!

And Grandma Susan!

Elsie and Thomas played by the pond for hours...

And her boots got wet...

Cousin Emmet is in this picture and so is Claire, but you have to look carefully:

Back in NYC we had a short but very sweet visit with Grand Kathy! She's set up a little table for Elsie with books and dolls and Elsie said, "Ahhh!"

The flight home wasn't so bad. We're glad to be home, but sad to be gone too...

My job was to give Elsie a little fresh air and exercise before she boarded the plane back to PDX. She took to the park and everything in it with such verve - running, babbling and peering into everything; insisting that I throw her "walking stick" ahead of her so she could scamper up and retrieve it (reminded me of another nice park enthusiast named Coby).

My Descendants certainly do move about, while complaining of delays that seem minor to me. The trip from Plymouth to Boston was once twenty-four hours. Not all who began it finished it.

The merriment in these pictures reminds me of our festivities, like the time we put King Phillip's head above the ramparts of the fort at Plymouth, ending his war.

Those were the days.
