Mutton Top, VA

The previous posting documented all the good times at the Vining Cabin in Mutton Hollow, so now we'll get to the good times at the cabin at Mutton top, where we stayed for much of the week. It was a glorious place, without electricity or car access (or so we thought. We later discovered that we had a key to the gate which blocked the fire road, but hey, we liked roughing it). Ida and Pete stayed here too for three nights, but they were always gone by the time we woke up. You can read about their Mutton Top experience here. We did a lot of exploring on the adjoining trails. This building was part of the Morris Farm, an old homestead on the "Vining Tract", land bought up by Great Grandpa Rutledge Vining and then later sold to the PATC to be enjoyed by future generations...
