Mutton Top, VA
The previous posting documented all the good times at the Vining Cabin in Mutton Hollow, so now we'll get to the good times at the cabin at Mutton top, where we stayed for much of the week. It was a glorious place, without electricity or car access (or so we thought. We later discovered that we had a key to the gate which blocked the fire road, but hey, we liked roughing it). Ida and Pete stayed here too for three nights, but they were always gone by the time we woke up. You can read about their Mutton Top experience here. Here's the girls eating breakfast on the porch:
Check out the view!
We did a lot of exploring on the adjoining trails. This building was part of the Morris Farm, an old homestead on the "Vining Tract", land bought up by Great Grandpa Rutledge Vining and then later sold to the PATC to be enjoyed by future generations...
Here Elsie checks out the chess board in the Morris cabin. Look out Grandpa Peter!
They liked the swing at the Conley cabin:
Naked hiking!
This is how we bathed...

AT first I was a little hurt that you seemed to have cut Ida's and my part from your life on Mutton Top, but now I realize that you had a whole separate life, and it appears to have been quite rich, also. That said, I think it was so generous of Maggie to let us all wear her bras, up there. That was a hilarious and exciting time!
That naked bathtub one has Christmas card written all over it!

what a great hand made cabin. Someone talented and in love with wood did it.
Jacob Schiff must take offense at the hot dogs cooking at Mutton Top
