back in business...

MAV left for PDX this morning (good luck on that bar exam!) so Elsie and AHB had a father daughter day together on martha's vineyard. We finished cleaning up the camp- session is now over, campers home safely, and then went out to the Gay Head Beach to watch the surfers. Elsie behaved very well and played with her toys under the umbrella. She rode around in her old school backpack too. She ate two servings of rice cereal and survived the day without the beloved breast feed. She's now asleep and hopefully that will last a while. We leave for Maine tomorrow. As Uncle Pete might say, my job right now is just to keep Elsie alive until MAV returns on Friday...
Here's some pics from the past few weeks at Camp Jabberwocky. Sorry about the picture size DKV - we have a slower connection here and it takes too long to upload big files:
Here's Elsie with "Hellcat", the founder or Camp Jabberwocky. She's 94 years old and quite spry. Hellcat said Elsie was very intelligent, for a girl.
Elsie is shocked by the cleavage...
Campers like Kendra here followed Elsie around requesting to hold her. Maggie usually politely said, "no thanks"
"Old School" backpacks are best!
Aunt Emily came in for nanny duty for a week which was nice. Here she is giving Elsie a bath in her summer tub. We're stealing this plastic bin from the camp because it works so well as a tub for Elsie:
If it comes down to it I can try to get a waiter job in Portland and carry Elsie around on my back like this:
One of the counselors brought three rats to camp which he kept in a converted lobster pot. Here Elsie gets a chance to meet them. She's become quite a grabber and tried to squeeze them, which was unnerving, but the rats survived:

What is wrong with Elsie's face (rat pic #2). Are you sure babysitting is going OK? You might want to get that checked out.
Holy cleavage! Aunt Emily is going to give Aunt Molly a run for her money, way things are going.
It's really hard to guard one's blogger identity when you have to go to work all day. People just sit around your house and write comments in your name.
I am talking about Pete my husband of course because my hardworking sibling is busily taking the bar exam.
Arthur,
I was listening to my latest This American Life podcast while riding on the metro. When all of a sudden, your voice came booming out of the earpiece. Hey, I know that guy! was my first thought. My second thought was Is that him singing soprano? My third thought was I gotta check on Elsie's blog - what's that chicky up to these days? Frankly I think she looks quite charming with the Remy from Ratatouille lookalike.
"survived the day with the beloved breast feed".
Dear Arthur,
Did you really do this by yourself? Poor Elsie.
Love Occhio
oops, that was a typo. "without" was what I meant, of course.
How on earth is Aunt Molly and why is there focus on my cleavage?
Cleavages and donut holes have a lot in common.
Love,
Occhio.
