The Rain Forest

It's a little known fact that America has a large rain forest within our very own borders. Or maybe it is a well known fact, but not that well known. Yes, nestled upon the Olympic Peninsula of the great State of Washington lies a magnificent forest full of trees, moss, and water. We went there.

Ella found these killer cottages right on the edge of a lake called Lake Quinault, which is where we stayed. Check out the locale!

Another view:

We ate flapjacks in the morning sun:

Theo chilled out:

Then we went for a walk in the copious woods. Ida is checking out the map over Pete's shoulder because she doesn't like where things are going:

Are we lost? Maggie seems to think so...

But we made it out alive!

As a reward, us men got to go fishing in the afternoon. I hauled in this whopper:

Only to be outdone by Pete:

The womenfolk played down by the shoreline:

The wind kicked up:

And then the girls got to go on a canoe ride:

All this action was capped off by a whiskey-fueled Scrabble match in which Ella surprised the "men of words" by winning. The night before we played Pictionary and the women team won, but we actually let them because we figured they'd be more likely to let us go fishing if we did. and we were right about that.

I think you photo-shopped my trout! It was bigger than that, folks.

Also, Arthur let sit a shot of the PAPPY, and therefore owes me $45.
