The Vinings Visit
On New Year's Day we had a visit from Motoko and Dan Vining who traveled north from New Jersey to see Elsie. Motoko made us all somehearty sandwiches and we ate them and admired the baby. Elsie seemed to enjoy the whole thing. Here's some pictures:

The hospital told us that even though Elsie was born a little early she looked good to go. They tested her blood for "billirubin" which indicates jauntice and if it was below 9.0 we'd could go home. It was 8.7 so after the Vining's left we gathered up our stuff and checked out. We took a cab back to Brooklyn and lay Elsie down in her crib where she slept while we set about doing all the chores we'd meant to do before she was born.
