Baby Mathew on the Holiday Train

Look at this nice babydoll.

Theo did you touch Baby Matthew?

I didn't see anything.

Seattle

Elsie and I went to Seattle to visit our friends, Julie and Hugh. Elsie was smitten by Hugh. Maybe because Hugh, like Elsie's forefathers, Rut Vining and DRV Jr., doesn't own any jeans.

Julie owns jeans but has outgrown all of them. Here she is at 36 weeks:

Julie took us to the Aquarium. We saw Buster the captive octopus eat some sardines, a couple of seals and otters. Elsie refused to pose for me in this octopus cut-out.

From Farm to Table

On Daddy's Day last week we went out hunting for a christmas tree. We went to the same farm as last year, and the girls took the selection of the tree very seriously.

We found one and smote it down.

Daddy hoisted it onto the roof solo!

We viewed the cows at the farm before departure...

Back at home we decorated the fine tree!

Merry Christmas, ho ho ho!

A quick grandparent visit

Grandpa Peter and Grandma Susan stopped by on their way back from China. The girls were thrilled to see them.

We took a trip to Audobon Society to see some rescued owls. That's a great horned owl behind Elsie. We also saw a spotted owl.

At Reed College Grandpa Peter pushed Elsie on the "big girl" swing...

And Maggie held Theo on her lap for safety, but then they both fell off and landed in the mud.

Later on, Vidamae chased off a coyote near Reed Canyon. Maggie didn't believe it was a coyote, but she was back at home changing out of her soggy pants so she didn't she it firsthand, and this article, provided by professor Rock, concurs. See the photographic evidence below!

UP CLOSE! That's no dog...

Those who read the linked article and are sticklers for rules will note that it warns dog owners to keep their pets on leashes at all times, but in Vidamae's defense I'll say that we were not in the canyon and Reed College grounds are commonly regarded as off leash areas, even during the coyote invasion. Both creatures were unharmed and seemed to reach a friendly understanding.

Anyway, Theo needed a smoothie to get over all that mud and wildlife...

Halloween Preview....

Since we have a feeling there's going to be a lot of Halloween photos posted here after the real thing, we thought we'd give a quick preview in the form of some pics from Maggie's office Halloween party. They invited kids so we brought Elsie Theo and Ida. Except Ida's bunny costume was missing so we improvised. She's a koala bear. Elsie is Barbar and she has a crown and a royal collar too but she's saving those for the big day tomorrow.

Theo made the rounds in full costume. She's a skunk:

Elsie and Ida surveyed their domain before heading in opposite directions and then meeting up at the cupcake table for mayhem.

More to come!
